The Triangle Aquatic Center is Expanding

To Meet the Growing Aquatic Programming Needs of the Triangle

The nonprofit Triangle Aquatic Center (“TAC”) introduced its plans to expand the aquatic facility at the Cary Aquatic Campus during its 10-year anniversary celebration on October 28th, 2017.  The expansion is divided into three phases and the design, town approval and financing has been completed for Phase I and Phase II.  TAC plans to break ground the first half of 2019 on the Phase I and Phase II expansion plans as follows:

Phase I:     A new parking lot of approximately 200 parking spaces
Phase II:    A 22,000-sf expansion that includes three components:

  • 4,000 – sf Spectator Stadium expansion and realignment of the spectator seating to provide a better view of the 50-meter pool.
  • 6,000 – sf of administrative space to house the TAC Titans coaching staff and additional TAC administrative staff.
  • 12,000 – sf high performance dry-land fitness center.

TAC is in the process of finalizing the design, receiving town approval and financing for Phase III which is a new 50-Meter outdoor training pool.  TAC is projecting to break ground on Phase III in the 4th quarter of 2019.

In addition, TAC has entered into a long-term lease arrangement with Skyway Towers to place a cell tower in the new parking lot that will provide TAC non-operating income and improve communication.

TAC has a long history of capital improvements since the aquatic facility opened to the public in 2007.  If you have any questions about TAC or the expansion, you can contact Michael Curran at mike.curran@curranfoundation.org.
