Executive Summary
The Michael G. Curran Family Foundation ("Curran Foundation") was created on April 11th, 2003 and funded with an initial gift from its founder, Michael G. Curran. Initial funding came from the sale of Executive Benefit Services, Inc. ("EBS") to The Principal Financial Group of Des Moines, Iowa. Mike founded EBS in 1992 and grew it into one of the largest nonqualified deferred compensation companies in the country. The Principal purchased EBS in 2001 and Mike remained on as CEO and President until January of 2005. After a four and a half year sabbatical from business, Mike joined CAPTRUST Financial Advisors in August of 2009 to lead their Nonqualified Executive Benefit practice.
The Curran Foundation understands that children and young adults around the world have significant needs. In order to distribute limited resources, it is anticipated that gifts and grants made by the Curran Foundation will be prioritized to nonprofit organizations and community programs that align with the Foundation's mission in Wake County, North Carolina. "Growing the Curran Foundation resources and developing its Mission is a lifetime pursuit to turn business success into human significance," said its founder Michael Curran. The Curran Foundation plans to collaborate with nonprofit organizations to leverage financial resources and knowledge in pursuit of its Mission.
